Pokemon Battle Advanced - demo
Relive the classic. Like you've never played it.
You know this town. The red roof, the fountain, the path north into the tall grass. Pokémon Battle Advanced rebuilds the start of the FireRed/LeafGreen journey as an HD-2D world of pixel sprites in a 3D world with real light, weather and water. Then it throws out the turn-based menu. Every battle happens in real time.
The demo takes you from your bedroom in Pallet Town to Brock's Boulder Badge in Pewter City. It's a free fan project, and it runs right in your browser.
Battles in real time
- No turns, no waiting. Move your Pokémon around the arena, line up your attacks, dodge, sprint and jump. Four moves sit on a diamond under your fingers, and each one has its own cooldown.
- Tag-team wild Pokémon. Send a second fighter into a wild battle, switch which one you control, or let your partner fight by itself.
- Fight on land, in the water and in the sky. Water types swim and dive under the surface, flyers sweep over lakes, and Pokémon that can't swim wade through the shallows.
- Type matchups still matter. Super-effective hits, status conditions and stat changes all carry over from the games you know, now under real-time pressure.
Boss battles
Your rival Blue wants a rematch on Route 22. The Viridian Forest bug catchers block the path. And at the end of the road, Leader Brock waits in the Pewter Gym with a Geodude and an Onix that fills the whole arena. Gym Leaders have their own music, their own arena and an AI that reads the type matchup.
A world that lives
- Day turns to night. A real game clock runs from morning through midday, afternoon and sunset into night. Street lamps and windows light up after dark.
- Storms roll in. Rain clouds drift across the map on the wind. Roads darken and puddles form, thunderstorms throw lightning, and the ground dries again after the storm passes.
- Water you can see into. Lakes and ponds reflect the sky, and Pokémon swim in them.
- The route you remember: Pallet Town, Route 1, Viridian City, Route 22, Route 2, Viridian Forest and Pewter City, with the people, trainers and Pokémon of FireRed/LeafGreen in their places. The world is built bigger than the original, so there's more room to explore.
- Catch Pokémon, fill your Pokédex, raise your team and watch them evolve. Your Pokémon can also follow you around the overworld.
This is just the beginning
The demo ends at the Boulder Badge, and the roads past Pewter City stay closed for now. More of Kanto is on the way. Follow the page to hear when it opens up.
How to play
In the browser: press Run game. Chrome or Firefox work best (Safari has WebGL 2.0 issues), and you may need to click the page once before the audio starts. Your progress saves in your browser's storage for this site; clearing site data resets the demo.

Known issues
- Some moves still play a placeholder hit effect while the move effects are finished.
- Pokémon abilities have no battle effect yet.
- Trainer battles are 1-on-1. Two-fighter battles are for wild Pokémon only.
- The first area you load can hitch briefly while shaders compile.

trying to pay appreciation but it’s giving me a PayPal error 422
Bro saca una versión para android también😊
I chose Charmander, got to Viridian and back with Oaks package. Got my dex and balls. I caught a Pidgey in Viridian. I could not catch anything else. No Poliwag or Goldeen in the water. Weedle or Caterpie on land. Rte 22 I couldn't catch Mankey. I use a controller, I hold the left bumper and hit the corresponding button and my character will not throw a ball. Beautiful game so far though.
I cannot pick up a Pkmn, I can neither accept nor deny. Game basically freezes. (Windows)
thanks, performance is one the things I will fix in the next release hopefully
I think it is because of text speed. First, it was instant for me than I turned it to fast and it worked.
thanks, will look into it. I'm mostly devving on mac nowadays so I didn't have the time to run the build on windows
Omg thank you that worked!!!
This game is very cool but the optimization really needs to improve. My pc it is very good and got like 20 fps all the time. In the battles we got a good fps.
thanks, performance is one the things I will fix in the next release hopefully
